Training with GP Synergy
In-Practice Supervision
As a large part of your GP training will occur in practice, your GP Supervisor will play a major role in your training and development as a GP.
At the start of your training, in your GP Terms 1 & 2 (also known as basic and advanced terms), you will receive extensive support and supervision from your GP Supervisor, with dedicated in-practice teaching time, on-site supervision and release from the practice to attend GP Synergy’s education program. As you progress through your training, the level of supervision is reduced to reflect your progression in clinical skill.
GP Synergy is fortunate to have a large number of experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated GP Supervisors, many with have special interests and expertise in a wide range of clinical areas. Several of our GP Supervisors are actively involved and hold key positions with other primary health organizations including Universities, Colleges of General Practice, Divisions of General Practice, General Practice networks, Government Departments, etc.
Many GP Synergy teaching practices have more than one GP Supervisor, enabling more than one Registrar to train at the practice at a time. Several practices also teach medical students, creating interactive and collegiate learning environments.
To ensure you receive in-practice teaching and supervision of the highest standard GP Synergy has developed an extensive Supervisor Professional Development Program to provide continual support and clinical teaching development to our Supervisors, with GP Synergy’s Supervisor programs often attended by Supervisors from other training providers.
See our Training Practices page for profiles of all of our practices.
