GP Synergy Programs & Initiatives
GP Synergy recognises that we are part of a wider primary healthcare environment. By working collaboratively with our stakeholders we hope to contribute to creating healthier communities by continually seeking to improve our delivery of quality GP education and identify opportunities where we can share our expertise to improve Australia’s primary healthcare provision.
Clinical Teacher Training Program: Now in its seventh year, the Clinical Teacher Training Program (CTTP) is a face-to-face interactive workshop focusing on practical clinical teaching techniques and is ideal for those interested in clinical teaching. To find out more click here.
GP Re-entry Program: The GP Re-entry Program is an initiative funded by the Australian Government aimed at assisting General Practitioners who are no longer practicing medicine and are seeking to return to the workforce. For more information about this program and how to apply, click here.
GP Procedural Training Posts: The GP Synergy New England region is one of the few rural areas in Australia to offer GP procedural training in 5 disciplines (surgery, anthesthetics, obstetrics & gynaecology, mental health & emergency medicine) and has training available at two accredited sites – Tamworth and Armidale. SCRIPT: With the advent of the new RACGP curriculum, GP Synergy sought to translate this vast landscape into an understandable framework for registrars, supervisors and medical educators and hence SCRIPT (Syllabus & curriculum roadmap for independent and practice-based teaching) was born! Health One: In response to an identified need for an integrated primary care centre in the Canterbury region, GP Synergy, in consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders, has embarked on the development of a HealthOne primary health care facility in the Canterbury LGA. Research & Academic Achievements: GP Synergy has a long history of involvement in academic research , regularly presenting papers and hosting workshops at conferences and conventions around Australia. For more information click here.
Developmental Disability: Developmental Disability can often be an unpopular teaching subject, but with prevalence and morbidity statistics rivaling those of Aborginal Health, GP Synergy has developed a Developmental Disability teaching module to help organizations address this health issue as a priority. Aged Care: Delivered across three Divisions to over 300 GP participants, the Aged Care program consists of three modules, each encompassing three relevant, practical topics essential for all GP’s treating elderly patients. For more about this program, click here.
Adolescent Health: Developed initially as an initiative between the Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Ryde Division of General Practice, The University of Sydney and GP Synergy (formerly SIGPET), The GP’s in Schools program was developed to bring GPs into contact with young people to promote adolescent health and encourage them to visit their local GP.
