Prospective Supervisors

Information for GP Supervisors

GP Synergy is one of Australia’s leading training providers delivering vocational General Practice training across metropolitan Sydney, South/Southwestern Sydney and the New England/Northwest region.

Due to increasing demand for placements, we are currently seeking new practices to supervise and educate the future generation of GPs.

Being involved in the development of registrars into competent and confident GPs is a rewarding experience with many benefits for your practice, patients and your own professional development. Financial reimbursements are also available to support registrar and supervisor development.

GP Synergy is seeking practices to assist train registrars in their latter stages of training who have a minimum of 12 months GP experience (Level 2 training practice) and/or registrars in their earlier stages of training who have less experience (Level 1 training practice).

Practices best suited to becoming a training practice are those who have a commitment to clinical excellence, with a genuine enthusiasm for medical education demonstrated through prior involvement in educational initiatives such as medical student placement programs and engagement in professional development activities (i.e. Division CPD events, etc).

GP Synergy is also hoping to use this as an opportunity to address areas of medical service need and workforce shortage issues within our regions, with the following points of consideration taking priority in practice selection:-

  • Practices that can demonstrate excellence in clinical practice (i.e. practice facilities, exemplary record keeping practices, alliances with allied health, innovative practice staffing, etc).
  • Practices located in certain geographical areas, such as within the Manly Warringah and South Eastern Sydney Divisions of General Practice.
  • Practices with a significant proportion of disadvantaged patients particularly:- residential aged care facility patients; migrant and refugee health; drug health; adolescent health; indigenous health.
