How to become a GPS
GP Synergy welcomes interested GPs to contact us and register their interest in becoming a GP supervisor.
However, in doing so it is important to understand that GP Synergy’s ability to accredit new supervisors fluctuates depending on GP Synergy’s training capacity requirements.
GP Synergy’s Training Capacity Requirements
GP Synergy is required to provide sufficient numbers of quality GP training placements across its regions in a way that assists in addressing general practice workforce needs at the same time as providing adequate quality training opportunities for registrars in the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program and pre-vocational Doctors participating in the Pre-Vocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP).
The fluctuating demand for new training practices and supervisors is driven by changes in the GP training environment, such as changes in registrar numbers, training location requirements and federal funding, amongst other things.
To manage these fluctuating needs, GP Synergy assesses its training practice requirements every 6 months, taking into account:-
- Regional workforce needs
- Current and projected registrar numbers
- The requirements of registrars to complete placements in particular geographical areas
- Balancing workforce needs with provision of quality teaching practices
- Ensuring support of core teaching practices.
- Ensuring diversity of practice types and locations to meet registrar training needs
- PGPPP placement needs
How to register interest in becoming a supervisor:-
If you are interested in becoming a GP Supervisor, please contact the Practice Accreditation Officer on 02 9818 4433 or info@gpsynergy.com.au
Following the bi-annual training capacity review, we will contact you and advise of our recruitment status. The application process
At the information evening, GP Synergy will ask prospective supervisors to complete an application form which provides GP Synergy with information which aids in the competitive assessment of practices.
