Allocation of Registrars
GP Synergy is required to reconcile workforce needs with teaching practice quality and registrar and supervisor needs in the allocation of GP terms. GP Synergy also has a responsibility to give practices clear feedback on their performance as teaching practices to enable continuous improvement. For these reasons, practices are ranked according to clear criteria which include a mixture of markers of teaching practice quality and geographical and clinical criteria.
The GP Synergy term allocation policy is based on the following principles:-
- The training and personal needs of GP registrars, and of supervisors and practices that consistently provide excellent training opportunities, are paramount;
- Supervisors and practices that provide excellent training will have priority in the allocation of registrars;
- Registrars require a variety of placements to ensure they have been exposed to and benefit from the diversity and breadth of general practice;
- Registrars by the end of their training will have been exposed to a mix of practice types, patient demographics, contexts of practice and a variety of supervisors;
- Medical educators, supervisors, board members, and other GP Synergy employees or associates will not be involved in the placement of individual registrars where there is a clear potential conflict of interest.
More information about our term allocation policy will be available shortly.
