GPS Support & Advocacy
GP Synergy recognizes the important contribution GP Supervisors make to GP training and has employed a number of initiatives to ensure our Supervisors get the support and professional development assistance they need and platforms where Supervisor issues can be voiced.
GP Supervisor Liaison Officer (GPSLO): The GPSLO assists Supervisors with any difficulties or queries issues they may have, whether industrial or educational, regarding supervision or the IR side of hosting registrars. To contact the GPSLO email lindam@gpsynergy.com.au
GP Supervisor Medical Educator: The role of the GPSME is development and delivery of education for supervisors. This position includes the opportunity to develop a specific area, eg aboriginal health in the urban setting, disability, non pharmacological heart disease prevention, over the 6-12months of the position, and to gain education development experience with excellent mentorship and the extensive resources within GP Synergy. For more information, contact jamesb@medemail.com.au
Supervisor Advisory Committee (SAF): The Supervisor Advisory Forum meets four times a year to support the supervisor education framework, to plan and support supervisor education, and to cast an eye over the RTP landscape, with supervisors in mind. If you would like to find out more about this committee or to request an issue is discussed, please contact the SAF Chair, Dr Linda Mann on lindam@gpsynergy.com.au
GP Supervisor Professional Development Program is a matrix of resource for GP Supervisors: education designed to increase knowledge of clinical areas, ways of teaching these, exploration of teaching and learning issues and solutions. It incorporates benchmarks for considering supervisor activity, which are informed by the SAF, by formative assessment of supervisors, by Medical educators and their reflection of registrar experience, and by feedback from educational events. Enquiries about this program should be directed to jeremyb@gpsynergy.com.au
The Supervisor Toolkit sits within e-learning, as a resource of supervisors, from the first day of having registrars, through educational planning, and even has information on what to do if things don't work out.
